Arrival Day, Friday, April 29th 2016
Well, we're here!
We went to bed around 9:00 last night thinking we'd be able to get a little bit of sleep before hitting the road at 11:30. Unfortunately, it rained like crazy so we were delayed by a little bit.
We arrived at Walt Disney World at 3:39pm and it has been awesome. Other than the ridiculously crushing fatigue, it has been great.
As I write this on the morning of Saturday 4/30/16, we are in a mad rush to get out the door and make it in time to the Magic Kingdom for the rope drop show. So, this is going to be quick. But, here's some shots of the view right outside our hotel room door(s).

On The Road
Our plan last night was to get up and hit the road around 11. That didn't happen. A band of thunderstorms came through around 10pm which delayed our departure to closer to 1am. So, after I spent about one and a half hours of lying in bed (and not sleeping), we hit the road.
Sophie and Lily slept for a solid three or four hours so, they are up right now watching Tangled.
But, we are on our way to Disney World! In fact, we will be at South of the Border in about 20 minutes, which is always a classy stop.
Some notable quotes : after driving for about 20 minutes, Lily asked, "Are we almost there? "
A little later, Lily told Joy, "I'm so glad we ordered our trip to Disney World."
Making memories and the sun isn't even up yet.
More to come...

The Countdown Continues: One More Week!
It's so surreal to think that just seven days from now, my family and I will be back in the happiest place on earth! We've been praying and dreaming about taking another trip to Walt Disney World since our last one in 2014, and it's crazy to think that we will actually be there in only one week! Next Friday just can't come soon enough. :)
To commemorate our having only seven days left in our countdown, I thought I would share seven of my favorite photos taken during our last Disney trip (in no particular order). So, here goes!
I just love the rich colors in this photo! |
One of the stunning topiaries on display during Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival. |
This is such a neat sign! I'm so glad I happened upon it on our last day at Magic Kingdom. |
Just some of the lovely artwork at the beautiful Art of Animation Resort! |
A wonderful view of Spaceship Earth from one of the countries in World Showcase (I can't remember which one!). |
A sunset over Hourglass Lake, between Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort. |

The Countdown Continues...
In exactly one week from now, what will we be doing? We won't be on the road quite yet. Most likely, we'll be packing up our suitcases and making some last minute checklists. But, what I hope we'll be doing at this time next week is... sleeping.
For our last trip, we had lain down to try to get some sleep at about 8:00pm until midnight. I lay there for four hours but I didn't sleep at all. Joy thought I was mistaken but, it's true. I think I was so wired thinking about our drive to Disney that I literally couldn't sleep. I got a little physical rest since I was actually lying in bed with my eyes shut but, I didn't really get any mental rest. But it was okay because I didn't have too much trouble driving. And when I did, I just switched places with Joy.
Regardless, about 14 hours after we haul our sleeping kids into the van, we'll see the awesome iconic Pop Century structures. Like this bowling pin:

12 Days to Disney!
Wow. I really almost forgot to write this post today. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter whether I post today or not. But for me and my Disney vacation blog history, this day is special. As I mentioned in my previous post, there's no real reason or significance for posting 12 days ahead of our trip to Disney--I just like the way the blog post title sounds.
Anyway, not much to report today. We've been spending a lot of time purchasing stuff that we're going to need for our trip--the road trip and for our actual time at Disney.
Well, it's late so I'd better sign off. I leave you with this rather bland shot of Epcot. I say "bland" because there's really not a whole lot going on in this shot. But still, Epcot is a beautiful park.
See ya!

Been a While/Sixteen Days to Disney
I was at work today, and I thought, "We're rapidly approaching our '12 days to Disney' requisite blog post day and, if I'm not careful, I'm going to miss it!" Of course, it doesn't really matter but, ever since our 2007 trip, I've intentionally written a blog post titled "12 Days to Disney". There's no real significance other than the fact that I thought it sounded like a cool band name--or something like that.
Anyway, "16 days to Disney" doesn't carry with it the same cool, hipster feel but, it'll do. It'll do.
Maybe my next post will be more... post-ey. This one is a bit light on meaning, content, inspiration, etc. I'll do better. I promise (to try).
